A court in Gujarat's Mundra in Kutch area on Tuesday gave a capture warrant against senior writer Paranjoy Guha Thakurta in a slander suit recorded by the Adani Group.


"...accused stands accused of grievance under segment 500 of IPC. You are therefore coordinated to capture the said denounced and to deliver him before me," Judicial Magistrate Pradeep Soni said toward a path to the Nizamuddin police headquarters in New Delhi.


The Adani Group had documented the maligning suit following his June 2017 article on a "Rs 500 crore mother lode" the gathering got from the public authority.


Gone after remarks, Thakurta said he doesn't know about the court request and guided inquiries to his attorney.


"We haven't got any insinuation (from the court). This data (on capture warrant) has come to us from media," his legal counselor Anand Yagnik said.


He further said the Adani Group had removed grievances against everyone, including the manager however not against the creator.


"The magazine (which distributed the article) isn't answerable (for criminal slander), the body of evidence against co-writer has been removed however you don't pull out the grumbling against the writer," he said. "We have moved a release application."


With pandemic influencing court hearings a year ago, the case recorded by Adani had come up under the steady gaze of the court on Monday and the court had said it will pass a proper request, he added.


"Today they passed a suitable request," he stated, adding the issue had not advanced since 2018-19 and the Adani Group had removed thecomplaint against every other person.
