Bangladesh on Sunday closed border with India amid a sharp rise in coronavirus cases

Bangladesh on Sunday shut its line with India for about fourteen days considering the sharp expansion in the Covid cases in the adjoining country.


"We are shutting it (line) for the travelers for now," Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told correspondents.


"Bangladesh took the choice taking into account quick increment of Covid contamination in India, he added.


He said that the land courses for individuals' development to and from the adjoining nation would be shut for about fourteen days however the products loaded vehicles would be permitted to work.


"The higher specialists have chosen to close the lines for two weeks...The land courses with India will be closed from April 26," Home Minister Asaduzzamman Khan Kamal told the Kalerkantha paper.


The line conclusion came as the COVID-19 circumstance kept suspended flight tasks between the two nations since April 14.
