Cyclone 'Jawad': NDRF chief says 64 teams are earmarked; all preparations have been completed

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has earmarked sixty four groups to tackle the upcoming cyclonic typhoon 'Jawad' that is predicted to affect the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, a senior officer said on Friday.


NDRF Director General (DG) Atul Karwal advised reporters all through a briefing here that while forty six teams had been deployed or pre-placed inside the susceptible states, 18 teams were kept in reserve.



A single NDRF team has about 30 personnel who are geared up with pole cutters, electric saws to reduce uprooted trees, inflatable boat and a few different alleviation and rescue gadgets.


"We are confident of taking care of the state of affairs," Karwal said, including all arrangements have been achieved with the aid of the federal contingency pressure to assist the affected states and the citizens.


The NDRF head stated the country wide disaster control committee (NCMC), a panel headed via Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior officers have already reviewed the situation and those will continue until the cyclone hits coast on December five in Odisha.
