Danish Siddiqui, a photojournalist, was killed in Afghanistan's Kandahar province

Danish Siddiqui, a Pulitzer Prize winner Indian photojournalist, has been killed in Afghanistan while overlaying fighting between Afghan troops and the Taliban.


"Deeply disturbed by the unhappy news of the killing of a chum, Danish Seddiqi in Kandahar ultimate night time (Thursday). The Indian Journalist and winner of the Pulitzer Prize changed into embedded with Afghan protection forces," Afghanistan's Ambassador to India Farid Mamundzay tweeted on Friday.



"I met him 2 weeks ago earlier than his departure to Kabul. Condolences to his circle of relatives & Reuters," Mamundzay stated.


Siddiqui, in his early 40s, become killed for the duration of clashes in Spin Boldak district in Kandahar, Tolo News quoted resources as announcing.


The Indian journalist turned into overlaying the scenario in Kandahar over the last few days.


Siddiqui became based in Mumbai. He had received the Pulitzer Prize as a part of the Photography team of workers of Reuters information company.


Danish graduated with a degree in Economics from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. He had a diploma in Mass Communication from the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia in 2007.


He began his career as a tv news correspondent, switched to photojournalism, and joined Reuters as an intern in 2010.


This comes because the Taliban captured Spin Boldak district in Kandahar this week. Fierce combating has been underway in Kandahar, mainly in Spin Boldak, for the previous couple of days.
