Google said Tuesday fixes app to crash on Android, caused by system component

Google said Tuesday it had fixed a specialized issue that was causing some Android applications to crash for certain clients around the world.


Among the applications influenced were Gmail and Google Pay, which was slamming for some Android clients. "We have settled the issue with WebView that caused some applications on Android to crash for certain clients. Refreshing Android System WebView and Google Chrome by means of Google Play should now settle the issue," said a Google representative.


The issue was brought about by a framework segment called Android System WebView fueled by Chrome that permits Android applications to show web content.


As indicated by a report by The Verge, the application crashes started on Monday and were recognized by Google early Tuesday evening and kept going around seven hours, as per the Google Workspace dashboard for Gmail. The issue was named a "administration disturbance".


Samsung US, on its authority support profile on Twitter, likewise suggested a similar fix. "Much obliged for drawing this out into the open.
