India and China have agreed on separation of troops from the north and south banks of the Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said in Rajya Sabha today.
Under the understanding, Singh said the two sides will stop their forward organizations in a staged, composed and confirmed way in these zones.

"The Chinese side will keep its troop presence in the North Bank territory to east of Finger 8. Equally, the Indian soldiers will be based at their perpetual base at Dhan Singh Thapa Post close to Finger 3," he said.
"A comparable move would be made in the South Bank region by the two sides. These are common and complementary advances and any constructions that had been worked by the two sides since April 2020 in both North and South Bank zone will be eliminated," Singh said.
Indian and Chinese militaries were secured a harsh stalemate in eastern Ladakh for more than nine months.
