New Delhi's construction ban will provide aid to workers: Rai

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday stated the authorities has decided to reimpose the ban on construction and demolition sports following the Supreme Court order in this regard.


He said commands had been issued to the Labour Department to put together a plan for presenting economic help to people stricken by the ban.



"We have decided to ban production and demolition sports once more from Thursday. The reimposition of the ban will purpose inconvenience to employees. So, we are able to provide them monetary assistance. We have directed the Labour Department to put together a plan on this regard," Rai instructed PTI.


The Supreme Court had on Wednesday reimposed the ban on construction activities in Delhi-NCR till further orders.


Non-polluting construction sports together with plumbing work, indoors ornament, electric work and carpentry are allowed.


The apex court had also asked authorities to apply finances accrued as labour cess for the welfare of construction employees to offer them subsistence at some stage in the ban.


The ban on creation and demolition sports turned into lifted on Monday in view of an improvement inside the air quality and inconvenience triggered to workers.


On Wednesday, the Delhi authorities determined to renew physical classes in colleges, faculties and other educational institutions and reopen government workplaces from November 29.


The ban at the entry of vans, barring the ones engaged in essential services will keep until December 3.


However, "CNG and electric powered trucks may be allowed to go into Delhi from November 27," Rai stated.
