On Wednesday, the PM will inaugurate the Kushinagar international airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Kushinagar global airport in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday to facilitate air travel necessities of Buddhist pilgrims in India, the Civil Aviation Ministry stated on Monday.


"The inaugural flight will land at the Kushinagar airport from Colombo, Sri Lanka wearing one hundred twenty five dignitaries and Buddhist priests," the ministry's statement cited.


Kushinagar is an international Buddhist pilgrimage centre in which Lord Gautam Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana.


After the airport's inauguration, the high minister may even address a programme on Wednesday on the Buddhist website of Mahaparinirvana stupa and temple wherein Sri Lankan Buddhist priests and ministers of the Sri Lankan authorities will take part, the ministry referred to.


Kushinagar is the centre point of the Buddhist circuit, which includes pilgrimage web sites at Lumbini, Sarnath and Gaya.


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia may also be gift on the airport's inauguration together with the high minister, the ministry stated.


The Kushinagar airport's new terminal constructing, which is unfold across 3,600 square meter, became built at a price of Rs 260 crore by using the Centre-run Airports Authority of India (AAI) in affiliation with the Uttar Pradesh authorities, it noted.


The terminal constructing at this airport is capable of coping with three hundred passengers all through the height hours, it mentioned.


Direct aviation connectivity with South Asian countries will make it less complicated for tourists returning from Sri Lanka, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore to attain Kushinagar and experience the wealthy heritage of the region, it said.


Tourism influx is predicted to upward push by using 20 in step with cent with inauguration of the airport, it stated.


Journey of Lumbini, Bodhgaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Shravasti, Rajgir, Sankisa and Vaishali of Buddhist circuit will be protected in lesser time after this airport's inauguration, it stated.
