Over 700 cases of privacy violations were registered under the IT Act in 2020

In excess of 700 cases were enlisted in 2020 for infringement of security under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Parliament was educated on Friday.


"According to the information kept up with by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs, an aggregate of 389, 812 and 742 cases for infringement of protection under Section 66E of the IT Act, 2000, were enlisted during the years 2018, 2019 and 2020, individually," Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said in a composed answer to the Rajya Sabha.


He added that Section 66E of the Act accommodates discipline for infringement of security, and that these cases are managed by law implementation offices of states.


"The Government is submitted towards Open, Safe and Trusted and Accountable web where go-betweens will consistently regard the Constitutional privileges of all Indians online exceptionally Article 14, 19 and 21 of the Constitution of India. Government has made a few strides for computerized security of people..." he said.


Because of another question, the pastor said over 12.1 lakh network protection episodes were seen during 2021 (up to October).


"Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has revealed that an absolute number of 11,58,208 and 12,13,784 network safety occurrences are seen during the year 2020 and 2021 (upto October), individually. Out of this, an absolute number of 54,314 and 32,736 network protection episodes were identified with government associations during the year 2020 and 2021 (up to October), individually," he expressed.


Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) is ordered to track and screen network protection episodes in India.


Chandrasekhar said the public authority is very much aware of network safety dangers as the Internet grows and the sky is the limit from there and more Indians get associated and use Internet.


He added that the public authority is completely discerning and mindful of different network protection dangers; and has gone to various lengths to upgrade the digital protection act and forestall digital assaults.
