As the women's wing leader of the Congress resigned, senior chief Kapil Sibal on Monday said the party is shifting on with its "eyes huge shut".
"Sushmita Dev resigns from number one club of our Party. While younger leaders go away we 'oldies' are blamed for our efforts to strengthen it," the previous union minister stated on Twitter.
"The Party movements on with: Eyes Wide Shut," he also stated.
Sibal, a member of the 'Group of 23' leaders who had written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi looking for organisational overhaul, has been traumatic that the birthday celebration be strengthened.
The senior birthday celebration leader on Sunday welcomed the party leader's initiative of bringing like-minded political events collectively, however advised her to reinforce her very own birthday party, pronouncing no Opposition team spirit is feasible without it.
Sibal, however, said he along side different leaders of the "Group of 23" might preserve to demand reforms within the grand vintage birthday party and preserve pushing for its strengthening.
"I am happy that Congress president Sonia Gandhi is taking the initiative of bringing about Opposition unity. But our reform time table has to preserve and we are able to keep pushing for it to strengthen the Congress," he instructed PTI.
The former Union minister stated he and his birthday party colleagues are prepared to guide those efforts in an effort to revive and revitalise the Congress.
He said Gandhi can "jettison" him if he stands in her manner, but he could continue to searching for strengthening of the Congress for bringing it to the leading edge of Opposition cohesion.
"This isn't approximately me, however about a revival of the Congress and bringing it to the forefront of Opposition unity. Without the Congress being strong, there may be no Opposition harmony," Sibal said.
Sibal stated Opposition team spirit will no longer come approximately till the Congress is revived and bolstered.
"This project of Opposition team spirit will fail if the Congress is not reinforced and rejuvenated. I desire the Congress realises the importance of its primacy," he stated.
