Police in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai have enrolled a body of evidence against an individual for supposedly hoodwinking 10 people to the tune of Rs 5.50 lakh on the guarantee of occupations in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the overseeing body for the well known game in the country, an authority said on Thursday.
The denounced, Manish Painter, who hails from Mumbai, is on the loose and the police have sent off an inquiry to grab him, he said.
DCP (wrongdoing) Suresh Mengde said that in view of a protest documented by one of the people in question, an offense under IPC segments 406 (criminal break of trust) and 420 (cheating) was enrolled at Rabale police headquarters in Navi Mumbai.
"Somewhere in the range of 2017 and 2021, the denounced had gathered Rs 50,000 from every casualty, promising them occupations in the ground staff and upkeep division of the BCCI. In any case, he never gave occupations to them as guaranteed, in spite of the fact that he had given over counterfeit arrangement letters to them. At the point when the casualties looked for their cash back from him after he neglected to land any positions for them, he would not return their sum," he said.
After the casualties understood that they had been cheated, one of them recorded the grievance on January 14, the authority said, adding that the case has been moved to the wrongdoing branch.
