Panel evaluating marriagable age of girls submits recommendations:
The board selected to assess the eligible time of young ladies has sent its proposals to the Prime Minister's Office and the Women and Child Development Ministry, sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said the board has made solid suggestions towards expanding the time of marriage of young ladies.
An authority said the WCD Ministry is investigating the suggestions made by the board.
Tending to the country on the event of India's 74th Independence Day from the defenses of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the public authority is pondering on what ought to be the base age for marriage of ladies.
"We have set up an advisory group to rethink the base age for marriage of our little girls. We will take proper choices after the advisory group presents its report," he had said.
As of now, the base age for marriage of ladies is 18 years.
Early a year ago, the 10-part team was set up under the chairmanship of Jaya Jaitly and it was to propose appropriate enactments or alterations in existing laws to help its suggestions; and furthermore work out a definite rollout plan with timetables to execute these proposals.
The taskforce was to present its report by July 31 yet sources said the proposals were submitted as of late.
